St Peter's, Old Cogan

Join Coleridge in Wales founder Richard Parry at this ancient building on the edge of Penarth to find out more about the remarkable Welsh figure Iolo Morgannwg - who is said, whilst a stone mason in the Vale of Glamorgan, to have carved a memorial in the church. There are other local legends about Iolo... perhaps you know one, if so come along to share it.

Richard will talk about the connections between Iolo Morgannwg and Coleridge. Both men struggled to make a living, but were hugely influential on Welsh and British culture. There will be music too, and some refreshments.

The event marks the first day of the 80 day long Coleridge in Wales Festival which tours all of Wales in search of hidden Welsh treasure, and is also an English language contribution to Penarth's new celebration of Welsh language culture Codi Hwyl http://coleridgefestival.org/event/63/codi-hwyl

Organised in association with the friends of St Peter's Old Cogan.

Dywedir fod cerflun yn Eglwys Sant Pedr, Old Cogan, wedi cael ei gerfio gan Iolo Morganwg.

Mae'n bleser gennym fod mewn trafodaethau gydag aelodau'r eglwys hynafol brydferth ac anarferol hon i nodi taith Coleridge yng Nghymru. Byddwn yn edrych ar fywyd Iolo Morganwg ym Mro Morganwg, ei ddylanwad rhyfeddol ar ddiwylliant Cymru, a'r diddordebau a rannai a Coleridge.

Cysylltwch os hoffech gymryd rhan yn y paratoadau yn yr ardal hon.
