PICTURE: One of Wales's leading environmentalists Jane Davidson of UWTSD and Rob Stewart, Leader of Swansea City Council with the Coleridge in Wales's one metre cubed piece of melting ice, celebrating Swansea's vision for creative, sustainable living.
Near to the ship of the Ancient Mariner in SA1 Swansea a meter cubed block of ice will be placed on the dock side. For 36 hours it will slowly melt. Then disappear.
Global warming affects us all.
The ice caps are melting.
What is our role, individually and collectively, in creating more sustainable living?
The ship of the Ancient Mariner sailed to the Antarctic seas, and The Mariner killed an albatross. How do we understand our unthinking destructive capacities? What are our counterbalancing capacities to be a blessing to the sea creatures and natural world?
Human creativity and compassion are at the heart of vibrant communities. How will relationship and landscape be in the heart of new economic and social communities in Wales in future generations? How do we begin that work now?
